The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) co-hosted the inaugural Doing Business in the U.S. Seminar at COEX, Seoul, the chamber said Tuesday.

The seminar was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Korea Harry Harris and other guests from the Association of American State Offices in Korea, law firm K&L Gates, insurer Chubb, personnel consulting firm Kelly Services and e-commerce company Amazon.

"In close alignment with Ambassador Harris and the U.S. government, AMCHAM has made facilitating Korean investment into the U.S. one of our core missions," AMCHAM Chairman James Kim said.

"Today's seminar is a tremendous accomplishment that will help many Korean entrepreneurs enter the U.S. market for the first time and significantly strengthen the economic partnership between our two countries."

KITA Chairman Kim Young-ju said the U.S. is currently facing a "Goldilocks" environment, meaning neither too hot nor too cold, and Korean SMEs should be more active in entering the U.S. market, and seeking growth through cooperation with promising companies.

During the seminar, Tyler Won, a partner at K&L Gates, stressed firms seeking to enter the U.S. should be aware of the different investment incentives in each state. Kelly Services Managing Director Jeon You-me said hiring people with knowledge in the practices and cultures of both the U.S. and Korea was a key element to success.
